DayZ is NOT a simple download, place in this folder and play the game. DAYZCOMMANDER is in my opinion the  best place to start with the download of DayZ. Of course to get there the easiest way is from www.dayzmod.com and click on the download link in the upper left.
From there you will be sent to another DayZmod page where you will see two (2) different DayZ downlaods via... either Play WithSIX or DAYZCOMMANDER.
Play WithSIX I found not to be as user friendly as I had hoped. I'm sure there are a number of features that make this interface the choice for many die hard gamers. However, for a quick and easy interface  to play the DayZ game, DAYZCOMMANDER is the answer.
Not that I should have to tell you, but you will require the installation of ARMAII and Operation Arrowhead prior to installing DayZ. If you haven't done this research yet, it can be pruchased with a STEAM account (click here and do a search for ARMA, if you need further information.) There are other ways to get the required games, but most prefer a Steam account.
After clicking the link for DAYZCOMMANDER, you will brought to their download page. There are two large "download" boxes, which are NOT related to the DayZ install. The install you seek is located on the page and at the time this is being  written it was the last option on the page.
Clicking this will prompt you to run an install. After the install, a desktop icon will be available. Doulbe click the icon to fire up DAYZCOMMANDER. You will see a number of servers start to fill the page, but you still can't play DayZ yet. You need to find the "install/update" link in the upper right hand corner and click it to open the last install page. I believe the second option is the DayZ install. Regardless find it and click the install. It's about 100mb, last I checked and depending on your connection may take a while to complete.
Once finished, close the install window by clicking done and now you are ready to pick a server in the list and try to be a Zvivor!
